7 Necessary Materials Needed For Building Construction in Central India

Sure, you can build your structure from any material you like, but it is a well-known fact that a building will only be as strong as the materials used in its construction. So if you want your structure to last, then you will have to invest in good-quality, sturdy building materials.

Here is the list of 7 essential construction materials that you must choose carefully if you are building in Central India.

  1. Cement

Cement is the base material for all RCC constructions, and in general, OPC 53 Grade cement is recommended for structures like footing, column, beam, and slabs – where ever strength is a structural requirement. For other work such as masonry, plaster, or tiling, PPC, and PSC cement can be used.

  1. Steel

Another vital material that gives the building its strength is Steel. Here we recommend you use only the best quality TMT bars as these have extra tensile strength, earthquake and corrosion-resistant properties, and are easier to handle on-site.

  1. Sand and Aggregate

Sand and gravel are natural materials found in river beds, beaches, or floodplains. They form an essential part of the concrete mix and hence are present in every RCC structure. Together they form key ingredients in cement, mortar, plaster, concrete, and blocks. After the construction, they are also used for landscaping and constructing outdoor areas.

  1. Bricks

Another foundational element of RCC structures is brick. These are available on various types, shapes, and sizes, depending on the construction requirements. The most common are mud bricks, clay bricks, and concrete bricks.

  1. Glass

Along with long-lasting and super-strong materials, a building also requires fragile glass to make it weather tight. There are, of course, different types of glass of varying degrees of strength- these are frosted glass, colored glass, and etched glass.

  1. Wood

While wood has been a primary construction material for centuries, in RCC construction, it is primarily used for doors and windows or for internal decoration. Whatever the usage, it is best to source termite-treated and aged wood.

  1. Plastic

Every building has a substantial amount of plastic running through it in the form of pipes, tubes, and sheets. It is an extremely useful and versatile material that forms an essential part of all constructions.

The construction materials are usually based on the design and the climatic requirement of Central India. But the ones mentioned above are the base materials for ALL RCC constructions around the world. Hence, we recommend that you spend a little bit extra and find the best quality stuff for your building. As almost all types of materials are manufactured in Central India, one way to reduce cost is to source products locally. For your steel requirements, do consider Moira Sariya.
